MARION, Ind. – The second day of the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship has wrapped up for the Warriors. With two more events scheduled for Thursday, the Warriors continue their final NAIA meet among the best the nation has to offer.
Competing on Thursday was sprinter
Erica Waseq, and thrower
Julia Pisenti.
For Pisenti, Thursday was her second consecutive day competing. Thursday's schedule saw the freshman compete in the shot put less than 24 hours after she made her nationals debut in the javelin. Pisenti will be back in the field tomorrow in her top event, the discus.
Pisenti's top mark on Thursday was 13.04m, placing her in 21st in the field.
The day began on the track as Waseq began her third career national championship appearance. Waseq qualified for outdoor nationals in her freshman season and then added an indoor appearance earlier this spring.
Waseq, a sophomore, was in the field for the 100m hurdle prelims. With her time of 15.27, Waseq did not qualify for the finals on Friday, as her time competing in Indiana comes to a close.
There is still one additional event to go for Jessup in Indiana, as tomorrow, Pisenti will be joined by
Jessica Pedretti in the women's discus. Pisenti will enter Friday ranked second in the NAIA with a season-best mark of 49.66m.
The discus is scheduled for 10 a.m. (PST) from Indiana Wesleyan University. Live scoring can be followed
