10/08/25

ROCKLIN, Calif – Jessup University Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Flanders as the new Director of Sports Communications. Flanders brings a strong background in collegiate athletics and sports media to lead the communications efforts for the Warriors' athletic programs.

Flanders joins Jessup University after gaining valuable experience out of state at Cameron University, a Division II university located in Lawton, Oklahoma. As the Assistant Athletic Director of Communications, he oversaw the athletic department's online presence, performed game day operations and managed a team of graduate assistants and staff workers for all Aggie contests.

"We are thrilled to welcome Roger Flanders to the Jessup family," said Associate Athletic Director Brie Campbell.  "His extensive background in collegiate sports communication, particularly with NCAA Division II institutions, makes him the ideal leader to showcase the incredible stories of our student-athletes and amplify our brand as we fully transition into the PacWest Conference and NCAA Division II."

Prior to his time in Oklahoma, Flanders served as the Sports Information Director at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas. There, he exercised his creative abilities by refreshing the social media look of the Westerners Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Flanders conducted live streams, produced physical media and worked closely with coaching staff to promote student-athletes.

Flanders began his journey in the field within the sports information and marketing department for Cypress College Athletics, following an internship. During his time at Cypress, he served as the primary journalists and public relations liaison, responsible for writing, editing, and publishing content to the athletics website and social media accounts. Flanders curated press releases for home and playoff contests, coordinated media days, and covered multiple 3C2A State Championship runs. He continued his work within the Orange Conference Conference for Golden West College.

Flanders is a two-time alumnus of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). He earned a Bachelor's in Journalism degree in 2021. He continued his education at CSULB, completing a Master's in Kinesiology, Sports Management degree in 2022.

Jessup University looks forward to Flanders' leadership in promoting the achievements and stories of its student-athletes and athletic teams for the Jessup Warriors.

"After a life changing experience in the Southwest, I am incredibly excited and grateful to be back in my beautiful home state of California. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be closer to family while working to elevate Jessup University Athletic Department into its new NCAA Division II standing", Flanders said.
