ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup Women's Basketball (2-5, 0-1 PacWest) kicked off its PacWest schedule Thursday evening, falling to the visiting Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions (5-2, 1-0 PacWest) at Warrior Arena., 81-60.
The Warriors came out firing, establishing an early rhythm behind aggressive offense and sharp shooting. Jessup outscored Point Loma 21-12 in the opening frame, holding a nine-point advantage heading into the second quarter. The lead, however, was short-lived as the Sea Lions responded with a dominant second quarter (22-14) to come within one at the end of the first half, 35-34.
The game was ultimately decided in the third quarter. Point Loma seized control coming out of the locker room, posting a decisive 26-11 run that left the Warriors trailing by 14 points. Point Loma's efficient shooting proved to be the difference, as they finished the night shooting 53.4% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range, overwhelming Jessup's 35.2% overall shooting.
Guard Giselle Dogan led the offensive effort for the Warriors, scoring a team-high 14 points on the night, including a perfect 2-for-2 performance from the free-throw line, while adding four rebounds. Forward Porter Wood provided muscle in the paint, posting 10 points and securing a team-leading 11 rebounds.
Raylyn Fergerson was a strong contributor off the bench, adding 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Amari Guiton also impacted the game defensively, tallying seven points, four rebounds, and a pair of blocks. The loss drops the Warriors' season record to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Warriors look to bounce back immediately as they continue their home stand. Jessup hosts PacWest foe Biola University this Saturday, December 6th, at Warrior Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
