Warriors Drop Late Game Thriller to Biola

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Jessup Women's Basketball team (2-6, 0-2 PacWest) suffered a tough one-point defeat on Saturday afternoon, falling to Biola University (4-2, 2-0 PacWest), 66-65.

The Warriors started the contest with strong energy, closing out the first quarter with a slim 15-13 advantage over the visiting Eagles. Jessup then found their rhythm from beyond the arc in the second period, hitting four three-pointers and shooting an impressive 61.5% from the field. This offensive burst allowed Jessup to outscore Biola 22-16 in the quarter, taking a comfortable 37-29 lead into the halftime break.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter. The Eagles came out firing, finding their offensive rhythm while Jessup struggled to convert on the offensive end. Biola posted a 20-13 advantage in the period, successfully trimming the Warriors' lead down to a single point, 50-49, heading into the final frame.

The fourth quarter was a true back-and-forth battle, featuring five ties and two lead changes. Biola was led by Laney Grider, who proved clutch for the Eagles throughout the second half. Jessup battled hard down to the final possession, but Biola ultimately held on for the narrow 66-65 victory.

Guard Andheya Aurelio was the offensive spark for the Warriors, pouring in a career-best 20 points, all coming off the bench. Aurelio was highly efficient, knocking down five three-pointers on only eight attempts and going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Forward Amari Guiton nearly secured a double-double for Jessup, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds, including seven crucial offensive boards. Porter Wood also reached double-digits, adding 11 points and three rebounds. Starting guard Giselle Dogan contributed 12 points and six rebounds, while Hailey Hoff chipped in nine points by hitting three triples.

The Warriors excelled in several key statistical categories, finishing with a 46-37 edge on the glass and shooting 78.3% from the free-throw line (18-of-23). The Jessup bench was a major factor, outscoring Biola's bench 22-11.

The Warriors will look to bounce back as they continue their PacWest schedule. Jessup will travel to Menlo College on Tuesday, December 16th. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
