ROCKLIN, Calif. – The final stretch of the season has arrived, as the Warriors are back home from Hawaii to begin their final four games of their inaugural Division II campaign. With their second meeting against the Hawaii Pacific Sharks on the docket, Jessup sought revenge as they ended Saturday with a 71-55 victory.
Jessup is now the winner of three in a row, pushing their overall record to 12-13 on the campaign. The Warriors began their Hawaii trip a week and a half ago with a loss to the Sharks, as Saturday secures a season split in the series.
Four Warriors closed the contest in double-figures, with freshman
Giselle Dogan leading the way with 13 points on 4-of-8 from the field. Dogan knocked down two attempts from distance and pulled down four boards.
Natalie Moulos was next in the scoring column with 12, followed by
Andrea Jovicevic and
Kayla Vieira, who both finished with 11. Vieira added 12 boards to her performance to give her the double-double.
The Sharks were led by a 16-point performance by Morgan Hawkins.
Saturday's contest was not without its moments of oddity, as HPU began the game with a 1-0 lead before a second ever ticked off, as Jessup was issued an administrative technical due to one of the shot clocks not working. The shot clock was eventually repaired at halftime, which saw the teams enter the locker room tied at 28.
That one point ended up being of little difference, as the Warriors outscored the Sharks by 16 in the final 20 minutes.
With momentum carried over from their week in the islands, the Warriors will hope to double their three-game win streak as three games remain. Next will be Concordia, as the Eagles make their visit to Warrior Arena on Thursday night.
The season will end with visits from Hawaii Hilo and Fresno Pacific for Senior Day on March 1.
