ROCKLIN – Jessup University has officially been approved as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) for Men's Volleyball. The Warriors will begin competing in their new conference at the start of the 2026 season.
"This year has been remarkable for Jessup Athletics, and the excitement continues as our Men's Volleyball program transitions into the MPSF," said Associate Athletic Director and volleyball administrator
Scott Sorgea. "This transition provides us with a unique opportunity to showcase Jessup Men's Volleyball on one of the most competitive stages in the country."
Jessup will be one of ten schools that will be part of the MPSF men's volleyball conference, as UC Merced joins the Warriors as the conference's two newest promgrams. Three other Division II programs call the conference home: Concordia, Menlo, and Vanguard. The remaining five programs come from NCAA Division I: BYU, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCLA, and USC.
The Warriors will play each Division II opponent twice, once at home and once on the road. The schedule will also include six conference meetings with Division I foes.
"We are excited to welcome Jessup University and UC Merced to the MPSF in men's volleyball," said MPSF Commissioner Foti Mellis. "Their addition reflects our conference's continued growth and strength, and we look forward to the energy, competition, and commitment they will bring to the court."
The excitement of joining the MPSF was shared by head coach
Kyle Steele, who is coming off an NCCAA National Championship in the program's inaugural season.
"The news of Jessup becoming an official MPSF school is incredibly exciting," added Steele. "It was a lifelong dream of mine to be a coach in what has been traditionally the best conference of men's volleyball in the country. To be on a list with coaches like Al Scates, Marv Dunphy, John Speraw, and many more is an incredible honor. I look forward to continue building our program here at Jessup to meet the standards of such an accomplished league."
Jessup will square off with teams that competed on the NCAA's biggest stage in the 2025 season. UCLA finished the 2025 season as national runner-up following a championship game loss to Long Beach State. Pepperdine, a program the Warriors squared off with twice last season, was one of the last four teams standing in the NCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship.
"The challenges, notoriety, and responsibility that comes with coaching a team in this league are extremely motivating, and the players are equally up for the task," added Steele.
The Warriors took the opening set in their first meeting with Pepperdine last season.
"Each time our team steps onto the court, we will compete against some of the finest programs in collegiate volleyball," added Sorgea. "I would like to express my gratitude to Coach Steele and the inaugural 2025 Men's Volleyball team for their dedication and hard work in paving the way for this momentous occasion. Their efforts have been instrumental in making this transition possible."
Jessup finished the 2025 season, the first in program history, 15-9, and won the inaugural NCCAA National Championship. The Warriors went 4-7 against members of the MPSF, with wins coming against Menlo, UC Merced, and Vanguard.
