Vista, CA- Jessup men's golf opened its spring campaign on Monday in the Fujikura Invitational at the Shadowridge Country Club hosted by CSU San Marcos.
The 13-team field, which included four PacWest programs, provided a strong early test for the Warriors. Freshman Jacobus Brakkee led the way for the Warriors, turning in rounds of 68 and 75 to sit tied for seventh heading into the final round. Over 36 holes, Brakkee recorded nine birdies and finished the day at 1-under-par. His opening-round 68 featured six birdies, including three in his first six holes.
Jessup had four additional competitors in the field: Nick Chavarin (T-60), Sam Cooper (T-59), Braden Armstrong (T-51), and Daniel Johnson (T-31). Johnson also opened the tournament with a 1-under-par 71, as well as carding an eagle on the 14th hole in his second round.
As a team, the Warriors finished the day tied for seventh among 13 teams and second among PacWest Teams. The Fujikura Invite will return to the course for a final 18 holes on Tuesday, February 10th.
